• Anant Patel - Procurement Business Partner – CPUK (Nestle)
I regard Camgrain's Cambridge APC site as a best-in-class operation with which we are very pleased to be involved. The management team, the GMP (good manufacturing practice) layout and the engineering quality of the installation are all excellent. In particular, their Bühler wheat cleaning plant capability is exceptional. Camgrain’s approach on showcasing the Farm to Fork journey is very engaging and gives wider Supply Chain personal within their customer base a broader understanding of the care taken at all stages within their operations.
• David Wagstaffe - Hull, Wagstaffe & Co Ltd
Our drying costs worked out to an average of just £1.00 per dry finished tonne. Remarkable, I feel, given the difficult weather of the 2017 harvest.
• Siôn Roberts, Senior Partner - European Food and Farming Partnerships LLP
We have been able to see first-hand the progress that Camgrain has made on behalf of its farmer members. They have an excellent reputation across the industry for quality and service which is exemplified by the contracts they have with highly respected food companies.
The publication of the Foresight Report by the Government Chief Scientist, highlighted the need to increase global food production whilst delivering a lower environmental impact. This puts great emphasis on the need for farmers to rise to the challenge. Farm controlled cooperatives like Camgrain have a key role to play in delivering these targets on behalf of society by building more sustainable and resilient supply chain relationships that are able to deliver greater financial and environmental efficiencies and reduce supply chain waste.
Camgrain’s strong performance and track record has earned them the confidence of a number of major food processors and retailers. This has provided Camgrain's farmer members with an effective opportunity to engage in the value added supply chain. Like many others, we believe that farmer collaboration provides the most sustainable future for the food industry.
• Chief Commercial Officer - Boortmalt
All our customers invest huge amounts of money and equity in their brands and are increasingly aware of food safety and reliability issues of the raw materials they use, particularly in the case of our distilling customers as many are laying down spirit for periods of 10 years or more.
We require a substantial tonnage of malting barley each year on our site at Bury St Edmunds - the second largest malting in the UK, but with only 10 days storage we needed a strategic partner to hold and deliver stock on a timely basis often to set, 30 minutes time slots on a 'Just in Time' basis.
Camgrain meets this need and over the period of the relationship we have every confidence in their logistics and quality of store management.
Delivering to forward positions from April through to July – they provide up to 1,200 t per working day to specification as tested by their own laboratory. This allows our staff to carry out other work on site.
It has also freed up capital that would have been spent on our own storage facilities to develop our own plant at Bury. And, as a result of the localised nature of the arrangement, some of our customers like to be able to visit their farmer suppliers; this provides them with confidence in the provenance of raw material.
Indeed, the committed knowledgeable grower base that Camgrain provides is a key feature that we can promote to our customers, helping to boost their confidence and secure a more reliable and long term supply agreement for UK farming.

Camgrain is an integral element in our expanding farming enterprise. Local storage and drying in multiple farm locations is both expensive and less environmentally friendly than using centralised grain store. It also enables the required high food storage standards to be achieved, which is very difficult at a farm location for a viable cost.
• Chairman - AHDB
With the rapidly changing structure of the cereals and oilseeds sector, the development of centralised storage is a vital step along the competitiveness road. The ever increasing demands of those along the food chain mean that hygiene and food safety of stored crops is paramount and sometimes difficult to achieve in farm stores. The buyers of grain also require exact specification loads into their processing plants. Again this is difficult for an individual farmer to achieve from his own stores. Operators of central stores are properly geared up for this.
Whilst on a study tour in the United States, I visited the headquarters of one of the biggest grain traders and food processors in the world. It was quite clear from looking at the logistics of that operation that they relied on central stores to achieve the grain flows needed for their markets. Other member states in the EU are much better served by central storage than we are in the UK allowing them to better react to orders for domestic consumption and export trade. We must not let the UK fall behind international standards for storage and logistics.
• Charles Fairey - TB Fairey & Sons Ltd, Linton
Food safety and quality retention, providence and traceability are guaranteed at Camgrain. Buying storage at Camgrain has meant significantly reducing tractor and trailer and lorry movements through the village. Camgrain offers a fantastic solution to farmers. It provides professional storage which enhances the value of their crops allowing them to improve the efficiency of their farms.
• Will Green - George Green (Bozeat) Ltd
I want to take the opportunity to formally thank everyone at Camgrain for helping me out when my drier broke down by allowing me to over deliver and change the commodities. This was very much appreciated and helped me get the harvest in without too much delay.
• James Tubby - RS & WR Gosling
Camgrain Services were very efficient. The lorries were always prompt even when I needed several to keep my combining rolling. Thanks again for making harvest that much easier.
• Chris Eglington - S. S. Eglington & Son Ltd
Many thanks for all your efforts again this year, this Camgrain member is very satisfied with the service you provide. Please pass on my thanks to your staff.
• A O Colburn - H. A. Colburn & Son (Holdings)
We have received a courteous, good humoured and efficient service from your office and also from your hauliers, R. Adams and Sons Ltd. Everything has gone according to plan and our investment in Camgrain storage has resolved the problem of an ageing on-farm system.
• Bryan Thomas - H & R Warriners
All transport and communications with Camgrain over harvest have been first class. Thank you to all for a stress free harvest.
• Andrew Pitts - J.W Pitts
The main reason I am drilled up is because with Camgrain I was able to get harvest sorted so quickly and early.
• Senior Group Secretary - Bedford NFU
Please pass on my thanks to everyone concerned at Camgrain for the organised tour of the Cambridge APC site. All the members agreed that it was a very interesting afternoon and both the presentation and tour of the plant were extremely enlightening. It is apparent that what you have there is a great example of British Farming and technology at the cutting edge.
• Sophie Alexander - Hemsworth Farms
Just wanted to let you know that we are really pleased with the service Camgrain have given us. Their collection and haulage operation is by far the slickest and quickest company we have dealt with. It is very useful to be able to access all the relevant details about our grain on line within a few hours of it arriving at the Camgrain depot. I find it very reassuring to know our crop is receiving the best drying and processing treatment. Last year we were really pleased with the results you achieved with our not very impressive organic wheat. Camgrain's ability to blend grain adds real value for the grower.
